HONK! against Corporate Greed

On Friday afternoon, October 9, activist brass bands from around the country and across the globe will descend on downtown Boston for a Day of Action in the campaign to raise the minimum wage and prevent wage theft. From as far away as Austin, Seattle, and Paris (France, that is), these loud and proud, mighty and mobile marching bands will “HONK! Against Corporate Greed” and its walls will come tumbling down. They will use their powers of music and spectacle to bring the national fight for income equality to the doorsteps of local Boston establishments still refusing to pay their workers a living wage, earn paid sick time, or form a union.

Working with members of Jobs with Justice, United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), Restaurant Opportunity Center (ROC), Chelsea Collaborative, 32BJ SEIU, Fight for $15, and other organizations, our “HONK! Against Corporate Greed” Day of Action is the next step in a worker uprising sweeping the country, as the national conversation on income inequality reaches a fever pitch. Make a loud and proud call to end wage inequality and change the economic landscape for all workers!

In the week following these actions, Raise Up Massachusetts and the Wage Action Coalition will rally at the Mass State House for hearings that could create a $15/hr. wage for fast food and large retail chain workers, ensure fair scheduling for workers, raise the tipped wage, uphold rights for pregnant workers, and increase private home care worker pay to $15/hr!

Participating bands include:
Artesian Rumble Arkestra (Olympia, WA)
Dead Music Capital Band (Austin, TX)
Expandable Brass Band (Northampton, MA)
Forward! Marching Band (Madison, WI)
Leftist Marching Band (Portsmouth, NH)
