La Banda Internacional de Chelsea is a small, brand-new band, and this is our second year playing. We started the band to participate in our Central American countries’ Independence Day celebrations in the city of Chelsea. It hasn’t been easy for us; we still face many issues finding places to practice, and musicians to help out with music and direction, but we are big in heart and determination.
We hope that this band stays together for many years and we can create a small place for ourselves.
Our roots are based in Central American music, such as punta from Honduras, cumbia from El Salvador, and tropical music from other Latin American countries.
On September 15, Independence Day is celebrated in all of the Central American countries: Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Costa Rica. We do not live there, but we want our culture to be alive, and we want to share with others our beautiful music and traditions.
