Artesian Rumble Arkestra
It all started when our ancestors crawled out of the sea, and in no time at all, with the addition of opposable thumbs, we came together and formed the Artesian Rumble Arkestra.
The music of the Artesian Rumble Arkestra is influenced by many traditions, including jazz, Balkan Brass, Brazilian samba, Bollywood film music, traditional hymns and pop tunes. The Artesian Rumble Arkestra works to contribute its portable and mostly unamplified energy to local social and economic justice events.
Music, live and on foot, for the socially just... or just social. The Artesian Rumble Arkestra works to contribute its portable and mostly unamplified energy to local social and economic justice events.
Yes
Artesian Rumble is prepared to play high-energy tunes in any sort of weather! We love to share our music and ideas with others! The energy and ideas we gain from others, fuel us for years to come.
March for Science, Women's March, March for Our Lives, MLK Lobby Day, the CROP Walk (raises money to fight hunger), a kickoff event for the Combined Fund Drive (state workers donate to non-profits), a couple local non-profit festivals, and an open-jam including many band members happens every Friday to support the peace sign-holders.
We recognize that Artesian Rumble and Olympia are not as racially and economically diverse as many other places, but here are some way that we strive to be accessible. There are no membership dues to be a member of Artesian Rumble, and all honorariums we receive are placed in a group fund that is dived up to subsidize travel, according to need. As an egalitarian band that takes turns being the leaders for each gig, we strive to listen to all members' voices, especially at band meetings. We come from diverse musical backgrounds and celebrate the talent in our members that ranges from improvisation to arranging to ear training. We are already an inter-generational band with members ranging from college students to well past retirement.
