Thursday , October 10th

Pre-HONK! musical performances

7-10pm, Union Square

Reunite with your HONK! friends Thursday night before the festival begins, and enjoy performances by Environmental Encroachment, The Dirty Water Brass Band, and Emperor Norton’s Stationary Marching Band.

 

Friday , October 11th

HONK! in the Neighborhoods

3-5pm, throughout Boston, Somerville, and Cambridge

Bands play with and for community and after-school groups, giving music workshops, performing collaborative, community concerts, and just having a good time.

Lantern Making Workshops

4-6pm at Hodgkins Park near Davis Square

Kids, parents, neighbors, and friends are all invited to make homemade, DIY lanterns in preparation for the evening Lantern Parades around Davis Square.

Lantern Parades

7-9pm, leaving from Hodgkins Park

Sidewalk processions around Davis Square accompanied by bike lights, paper lanterns, flashlights, and other forms of DIY lighting.

HONK! Kickoff

8PM-12:45am at Johnny D’s

Come hear some of your fellow HONK! musicians perform at Johnny D’s Night Club after the lantern parades. 17 Holland St, Davis Square, Somerville, MA 02144

 

Saturday , Oct 12th

HONK! in Davis Square

12:30-9pm all around Davis Square

More than 25 activist street bands from around the world perform all day, outdoors, for free at venues around Davis Square. Opening ceremony starts at 12:30pm in 7 Hills Park.

Sunday , Oct 13th

The HONK! Parade

12-2pm down Mass. Ave. from Davis Square to Harvard

to “Reclaim the Streets for Horns, Bikes and Feet”
featuring HONK! bands and community groups, from Davis Square to Harvard Square’s Oktoberfest celebration. The parade leaves Davis Square at 12 noon, travels down Elm Street, then Beech Street onto Massachusetts Ave to Harvard Square.

Harvard Square Oktoberfest & All Band Concert

2–6pm all around Harvard Square

The all band concert will be held on the Main Stage of Harvard’s Oktoberfest. In addition, some bands will play sets on smaller stages around Harvard Square throughout the afternoon.
